Kid’s Dental Checkups & Cleanings
Just like with adults, we recommend that children of all ages attend a dental checkup and teeth cleaning with us at least every six months. This not only allows us to examine their developing teeth, but also lay the foundation that will shape how they feel about dental care for the rest of their lives. That’s why we go out of our way to create a friendly and fun environment that makes children eager to take care of their teeth and keep doing so even when they go home.
Dental Sealants
If a child is going to develop a cavity, it will most likely be in one of their back teeth. These are hard for little hands to clean, and the deep crevices and grooves of the molars are the perfect traps for plaque and bacteria. By applying a thin, clear layer of dental resin, we can essentially shield these vulnerable teeth from decay. The procedure only takes a few minutes, and sealants can easily last for a decade or more.
Athletic Mouthguards/ Sportsguards
Rather than stressing on the sidelines worrying about your child’s teeth or trying (and failing) to get them to wear a generic mouthguard from the store, we can provide them with a custom appliance. It will be designed just for them so that it offers maximum protection while also allowing them to breathe and speak easily. More comfort means they are more likely to use it, giving you one less thing to worry about as you cheer them on!
Pulp Treatment
When harmful oral bacteria damage the enamel, we call this decay, and it can eventually develop into a cavity. This can eventually reach the interior pulp, which is the soft tissue found within each tooth that contains blood vessels as well as a delicate nerve. Pulp therapy is when we remove this infected pulp (usually stopping a toothache in the process) and leave any healthy portion in place. This means the tooth is able to function normally and falls out when Mother Nature says it’s time.
